The MSR Thru-Hiker 100 Wing is an ideal shelter for small groups of minimalists, thru-hikers, and long - distance backpackers. It provides excellent wind and rain protection with little impact on your pack weight. The 70 Wing can house 1 - 3 people and weighs just.38 kg (12 oz), while the 100 Wing offers enough space for 3 backpackers with a minimum weight of only.49 kg (1 lb 1 oz). You can use this wing shelter alone on a fastpacking trip on the John Muir Trail. Or, pair it with the Thru - Hiker Mesh House 2 or 3 (sold separately) for extra protection on long - haul trips along the Continental Divide. Key features include ultralight design for low pack - weight impact, adaptability to be set up with trekking or accessory poles or suspended from a tree, compactness to fit in small backpacks, compatibility with Thru - Hiker Mesh House 2 or 3, and great weather protection with a durable Xtreme Shield waterproof coating. It comes in a Sunset color, has a capacity for 2 - 3 people, a minimum weight of 490g, a packed weight of 570g, variable interior peak height, and a packed size of 23 x 10cm. The rainfly fabric is 20D ripstop nylon with 1,200 mm Durashield polyurethane & silicone.

Using the MSR Thru - Hiker 100 Wing is easy. You can set it up using trekking or accessory poles, or hang it from a tree. For a fastpacking trip, use it by itself. If you're on a long - haul journey, pair it with the Thru - Hiker Mesh House 2 or 3 for better protection. When setting up, make sure the poles are firmly in place to keep the shelter stable. Also, check that the waterproof coating is intact before each use. After your trip, clean the shelter with mild soap and water, and let it dry completely before packing it away. Store it in a cool, dry place to keep it in good condition.
